June Whipple Jones passed away August 16, 2000 in San Clemente, California at the age of 83.
Born June 21, 1917 in American Fork, UT to Myrtle Boley Whipple and James Anor Whipple. She spent her early childhood and teenage years in central Utah. The family lived in Mt. Pleasant, UT and moved several times while her father worked as a lineman for the phone company. She graduated from Juab High School in Nephi, UT, May of 1935. She attended BYU and then began working for Mountain Bell as an operator.
Married Dale E. Jones, January of 1942 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. June and Dale raised four children: Carolyn Pelkey, Capistrano Beach, CA, Alan D. Jones, Salt lake City, UT, Gary E. Jones, Logan, UT, and Gordon J. Jones who died in February, 1972.
Preceded in death by her husband, Dale; son, Gordon; brothers, Kent Whipple, Don Whipple, Bert Whipple, Jack Whipple; and sister, Serena Petersen.
June was a member of the LDS Church and served in the Relief Society and other church capacities. She was an excellent homemaker, baker, cook, fly fisher, and pheasant hunter. She retired in 1979 after serving 22 years with Mountain Bell. She spent all of her married life in Salt Lake City, UT and moved to Capistrano Beach, CA in 1997. Her love towards her children made them all strong. She is the nearest thing to Mother Mary we all know.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Heart Association.
Services will be 12 noon Tues. August 22, at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Mon. at the mortuary and 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
