OGDEN
- Luena Davis Richins, 87, died August 19, 2000 at a local hospital of causes incident to age.
Born Dec. 7, 1912 in Wales, Sanpete County, UT, the daughter of Thomas Rees Davis and Sarah Jane Jordan Davis.
She attended Sanpete County schools with further studies at Weber College.
Married Lyle Parley Richins, Henefer, UT June 22, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Lyle died Nov 22, 1994.
She was a member of the LDS Church, serving in various callings throughout her life. She was also an active Temple worker.
Luena assisted in the family business, Richins Mercantile in Henefer and worked in the Weber College bookstore during the sixteen years Lyle was manager. They were active in dance clubs and other social and church groups. Among her greatest joys and fondest memories were the wonderful friendships made wherever they lived, including Preston, ID, Henefer, Salt Lake, Ogden, Mesa, AZ and St. George. She has resided the past two and a half years with daughter Marilyn in North Ogden. Luena's loving compassionate nature endeared her to family and countless others, both young and old.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Elwin) Rundle, Sparks, NV, Marilyn (Nilo) Call, North Ogden; one son, Van Lyle Richins, Alexandria, VA; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Tom J. Davis, Wales, UT. Preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Evelyn Nelson Wilson, Wanda Petersen Holman, Oleta Marchel, Rhoda Robertson Medina, Fern Jensen, and one grandchild.
Services will be 12 noon Wed. Aug 23, at the Coldwater LDS Stake Center, 770 E. 2100 N., North Ogden, with Bishop Paul Mackley officiating. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tues. at Larkin & Sons Mortuary, 496 24th St., and 11-11:45 a.m. Wed. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N. North Ogden.
