JOSEPH, UT-- Clarence D. "Clair" Dunn, 83 of Joseph, Utah, died August 18, 2000 in Richfield, Utah after a short illness.

He was born Feb. 4, 1917 in Joseph to William and Char-lotte Bradbury Dunn. He married Ruth Sophia Utley March 19, 1937 in Richfield, Utah. The marriage was later Solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.

He started herding sheep at the age of 12. He worked in the mines for many years from Kimberly mines to Lark. He moved back to Sevier County and worked for the Elsinore Feed Company and later with and retired from the Sevier County Road Department. He enjoyed farming and ranching. He had a great love for horses, dogs, hunting and fishing.

He was an active member of the LDS Church. He provided many hours of service to the church farms and with his neighbors. Right to the end, his sense of humor supported him, his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Ruth, of Joseph; sons, David of Salt Lake City and Hayven (Kim) of Orem; six grandchildren; sisters, Mary Howcroft of Las Vegas, NV; Ila (Earl) Utley of Joseph; brother, Bud (Bernetta) Dunn of St. George. Preceded in death by parents; daughter, Carolyn Lee; brothers and sisters, Raymond, Ethel, Arnold, Carl, Vida, Iva, and Lono.

Funeral services will be held on Thurs., August 24th, at 2 p.m. in the Joseph/Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel in Elsinore, Utah. Friends may call at the Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, 50 So. 100 W., Richfield, Wed. evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the ward chapel in Elsinore Thursday afternoon from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Joseph Cemetery.
