PROVO — After receiving a tip from an informant, police arrested four people who allegedly shot out more than 30 windows of businesses on State Street in Orem and Provo during a night in May.

Police say the three 19-year-olds and one 21-year-old drove past about 10 businesses in Provo and about 20 in Orem on May 2 and the early morning hours of May 3 shooting out windows with a gas-powered BB gun. About $40,000 in windows were damaged. Eleven windows from an auto dealership in south Provo were shot out.

Investigators originally believed the vandalism was done by juveniles. Recently, however, they received a tip from a person who heard three men and a woman talking about the vandalism.

"Someone overheard some people talking, and that led us to the suspects," Provo Police Capt. Keith Teuscher said.

The three men formerly lived in Provo but now reside in Taylorsville. The woman lives in Springville. All four, facing charges of felony criminal mischief, allegedly confessed to the crimes. The four have not been arrested but will be summoned to court.
