Elizabeth "Betty" Van Hook passed away Saturday, August 19, 2000, in Salt Lake City, Utah due to causes incident to her recent medical problems.
Betty was born on October 26, 1913, to J.W. and Elizabeth Hall in Walla Walla, Washington. She grew up in Seattle and attended Cornish, a fine arts college there, subsequently pursuing modeling and acting careers in San Francisco and Los Angeles. She was known by friends and associates throughout her life for her fine taste and abilities in decorating. In 1986 she moved to Carson City, Nevada, to be near her daughter. In 1995, she went to Salt Lake City for medical care and then decided to remain in Utah, living near her son and his family.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Elderly Manor and Christus St. Joseph Villa for their continuing care and concern.
Betty married James T. Van Hook in 1944; they were divorced in 1969.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Christina, of Carson City, Nevada, and her son, Peter of Salt Lake City, Utah; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Her sister, Evelyn, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Carson City, Nevada, Friday, Aug. 25. Private graveside services will be held in Seattle at a later date. Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts for St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Funeral directors, Evans & Early.
