Gov. Mike Leavitt was scheduled to sign a proclamation Wednesday afternoon declaring Sept. 11 "911 Day" in Utah.
There are roughly 300 911 dispatchers in the Salt Lake Valley, said Terry Shaw, dispatch supervisor for Valley Emergency Communications Center.
Representatives from the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials, National Emergency Number Association, Public Safety Dispatcher Association of Utah and Qwest Communications, were expected to join Leavitt for the signing.
Sept. 11 will feature a variety of activities to commemorate the day.
