With teams taking few chances with their starting quarterbacks in the preseason, Trent Green and other backups took advantage of extended playing time.

Green, starting for Super Bowl champion St. Louis, threw two touchdown passes in the 24-17 victory over Dallas on Thursday night.

And backup Bobby Hoying threw two touchdown passes in Oakland's 20-0 victory over Seattle, while Alex Van Pelt passing for 163 yards in Buffalo's 16-12 victory at Philadelphia.

COLTS 32, VIKINGS 30: Indianapolis rookie Jamel White returned a kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown and rushed for another, and Danny Kight kicked a 43-yard field goal as time expired.

Minnesota (1-3) took the lead with just over a minute to go on Bubby Brister's 4-yard pass to Matthew Hatchette.

FALCONS 31, JAGUARS 20: Chris Chandler threw a 37-yard TD pass to Terance Mathis as Atlanta (4-1) won at Jacksonville (3-1).

BILLS 16, EAGLES 12: Van Pelt was 15-of-28, and rookie Sammy Morris ran for 101 yards and a touchdown for Buffalo.

RAIDERS 20, SEAHAWKS 0: Andre Rison, charged Thursday in Missouri with passing bad checks, caught two passes for 49 yards in his Oakland debut.

Hoying hit Jeremy Brigham with a 10-yard scoring pass and added a 2-yard TD pass to Mondriel Fulcher. Top draft pick Sebastian Janikowski had field goals of 43 and 33 yards.

PATRIOTS 29, PANTHERS 21: Cornerback Otis Smith intercepted a pass to set up a touchdown and had a sack just a day after signing with New England (3-2).

Patriots receiver Dane Looker caught two TD passes — one from John Friesz and one from Tom Brady. Carolina finished 0-4.
