James Cecil Dalton, 81, of Provo passed away Saturday morning, August 26, 2000, with his family at his side.

Born Jan 6, 1919, in Filer, ID to Frederick William and Annie Dorothea Benson Dalton. Married Beverley Joy Rice Jan 30, 1939, in Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Oakland LDS Temple. He grew up in Idaho and graduated from Jerome High School in 1937 and from the University of Idaho with a masters degree in civil engineering.

He served his country in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific. He worked for Shell Oil, retiring after over 30 years of service. After his retirement from Shell, he traveled extensively in his consulting practice. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings.

Survived by his wife, Beverley, Provo; four children, Michael R. (Dena) Dalton, San Antonio, TX, Gregory R. (Dlora) Dalton, Salt Lake, Bradley R. (Sherrie) Dalton, Centreville, VA, Shannon (Ron) Laudie, Pleasant Grove; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nell Wheeler, Irene Bowman. Preceded in death by his son, James R. Dalton; and his granddaughter, Amy Laudie.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wed. Aug 30, in the Edgemont LDS 19th Ward Chapel, 4775 N. 300 W, Provo. Friends may call 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tues. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 N., Orem, and at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
