SHARE Obituary: Alice Crider Hoopes

Our beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and special friend, Alice Crider Hoopes passed away August 26, 2000 surrounded by her family, after a valiant seven-month battle with cancer, at the home of her daughter in South Jordan.

Born August 6, 1916 in Phillipsburg, KS to John Allen and Della Moore Crider, moved to Fruita, Colorado, where she was raised and educated.

Married to Loren Meryhew, divorced; Married to Hollis Rogers, divorced; married to John L Hoopes, deceased.

She was a member of the Sonrise Baptist Church. Also active in the Lady of the Shrine and Eastern Star, where she held many positions. She always lived life to its fullest, and was the life of every party or gathering. Traveling, gardening, cooking, quilting, in everything she did she had fun, and her laughter was contagious. She loved to care for others and did so continually, being well known for her "monkey bread", "pigs in the blankets", cinnamon rolls; and "bobbi" blankets for comfort. She took great joy in her grandchildren and loved teaching them to garden, cook and quilt. Her loving spirit was so great that she will be sorely missed by all of us whose lives she's touched.

She is survived by three children, Robert (Peg) Meryhew, Kathleen Rogers Pearce (David Druce), Alice Ann (Scott) Johnson; son-in-law, David N Pearce; 14 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Baer; brother, Floyd (Effie) Crider; sister-in-law, Sarah Beth Crider; special friend and loving companion, Monty Richards; and many special nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by parents; husband, John Hoopes; daughter, Bernice; sister, Blanche Cheedle; brother, Lawrence Crider; grandchild, Ronnie Meryhew.

A special thanks to Dr. Michael Carney for his tender and loving care, and to Karen Walton her hospice nurse, and to Pastor Don Stone and his wife, Heather.
