PROVO — Uinta National Forest officials have offered some tips for recreationists prior to Labor Day weekend.

Pack-in/pack-out. Removing all litter before leaving an area will not only ensure clean campground and picnic areas but will reduce the risk of wildlife encounters.

Stage II fire restrictions are still in force. Open campfires are allowed only within a developed campground. Chainsaws or motorized equipment are not allowed from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily, and welding or blasting are not allowed.

Parking is limited at the Timpooneke and Aspen Grove trailheads. However, cars must be parked in designated areas, or they will be towed.

The Strawberry River road is closed above the corrals. Contact the Forest Service for current conditions.

All campgrounds are open, except the Diamond Fork and Palmyra campgrounds because of reconstruction. The Whiskey Springs picnic area is closed for renovation.

Logging operations continue in the Heber Ranger District Timber Mountain, Mill Hollow, Dry Hollow, right fork of Hobble Creek and the Spanish Fork Ranger District. Exercise extra caution while traveling these roads.

Tread lightly and drive responsibly to protect the environment.
