Portia Joan Salisbury Harris, 82, of Orem, Utah, passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000.
She was born March 18, 1918 in Provo, UT, the daugh-ter of Theodore Henry and Josephine Snow Salisbury. She marr-ied Samuel E. Harris February 7, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. She graduated from Lincoln High School and attended BYU. She was a beautiful wife, mother, grand-mother, sister and friend. Portia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many leadership and teaching positions. She loved visiting teaching and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed handwork, quilting and genealogy.
Portia is survived by her husband, Sam; and her children, Vaughn and Tischa Harris of Orem; Sandra and Dan Taylor of Draper; Ora and Scot Bridges of Grantsville; Sheila Harris of Orem; Lana and Ray Christensen of West Valley City; and Gene and Martina Harris of Orem; she has 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a sister and two brothers, Ruth Dowding, Ted and Jennis Salisbury and John and Dorothy Salisbury.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at the Timpview Chapel, 950 West 1200 North, Orem. Friends may call Thursday, Aug. 31, from 6-8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 So. State Street, Orem and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial, Orem City Cemetery.
