SHARE Obituary: Mary Jane Nelson Minnick

Our sweet wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend returned to our Father in Heaven on July 31, 2000.

She was born August 11, 1941 to Francis Carl Nelson and Myrtle Ellen Ashliman. She was the eleventh of twelve children, and was known as being serendipitous as a young child. Janie married her red-headed brown-eyed drummer, Charles Jay Minnick, on December 2, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her loving spirit, enthusiasm for life, wit, and humor will be deeply missed by all. She possessed a deep appreciation of music and cultural arts. She served in many callings as an active member of the LDS Church - yet her service within the walls of her home as mother was her most sacred and loved. The greatest joy in her life came from spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She remained true and faithful to the covenants she made with Jesus Christ and had a passion to understand His teachings. Mary patiently supported her husband and six sons as they served LDS missions.

Survived by her sweetheart of 39 years, Charles Jay; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Gregory (Marianne), David Russell (Lisa), Michael John (Marla), Jay Mark (Tami), Daniel Chad (Jennifer), James Douglas; and grandchildren, Spencer, Lauren, Tanner, Zachary, Joshua, Whitney, and Weston Minnick; brothers and sisters, F. Carl Nelson, Jay L. Nelson, Ellen Fennema, Margaret Chambers, Richard L. Nelson, John D. Nelson, Carol Jensen, and Patricia Bredsguard. Preceded in death by her parents and brothers, David E., Marvin L., and James D. Nelson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 5th at the Pebble Hills Chapel on 8735 South Harvard Park Drive (1065 East). Friends may call at the same location on Friday, August 4th from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment at Murray City Cemetery.

Mary, we love you very much and we look forward to the day we will be with you again!
