Torrential rain, lightning and wind strong enough to tear insulation from the nearby Oquirh Park speed skating oval were more than a match for the national pastime Thursday, as a storm forced the delay of the American Legion high school baseball tournament.
Copper Hills and Viewmont were scheduled to throw out the first pitch at 7:30 Thursday night, but weather prevented them from taking the field at all. The Storm caused the suspension of the Cedar-Mountain Crest game in the fifth inning.
Copper Hills and Viewmont will face off Friday at 6 p.m., and Cedar and Mountain Crest will resume at four. When the game does begin again, Cedar will be hoping to hold its 8-2 lead and go on to face Taylorsville at 7:30 p.m.
All games will be played at Oquirh Park.
