Construction on a parking structure at North Temple and Main Street has prompted changes in a traffic signal configuration at that intersection.

UDOT has announced northbound and southbound traffic through the intersection is prohibited, and the two left turn lanes will be reduced to one. After Monday, traffic on North Temple will be allowed to move through the intersection and make left and right turns north on Main Street and south into the parking terrace.

However southbound motorists on Main Street will be allowed to make only single lane, left and right turns.

UDOT crews are expected to install signs and traffic signals to notify motorists of the changes.

The primary reason for the changes is to increase pedestrian safety in the area, UDOT officials say.
