A Taylorsville man fell to his death in Little Cottonwood Canyon Saturday while hiking with friends.

Killed was:

Rob L. Ingham, 18, Taylorsville.

Ingham and three friends apparently went up the Pipeline Road area on the south side of the canyon before dawn after telling others they planned to watch the sunrise, Salt Lake County sheriff's deputy Peggy Faulkner said.

As the four made their way out of the area around 8 a.m., Ingham slipped and fell between 100 and 150 feet, she said. It appears his body bounced off rocks at least three times. He suffered fatal head injuries, Faulkner said.

One of Ingham's friends stayed with him and attempted to revive him, while the other two went for help. Salt Lake County's Search and Rescue team recovered Ingham's body.
