SUNNYVALE, CA - On August 3, 2000, Michael Christian "Arch" Archer, age 35, lost his valiant fight for life, but his steadfast record of love and incredible courage will live on forever. He now rests peacefully with his recently deceased grand-mothers, Margaret Thomson and Theresa Archer.

In life, Arch had the sweetest, kindest soul, always wanting to give rather than receive. He loved hiking in the mountains, spending mornings reading in the coffee shop, and playing his guitar.

Michael was born April 15, 1965 in Orange, CA to Leonard Gene and Evelyn Thomson Archer. Michael moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1970; and in 1974 he moved with his family to Pittsburgh, PA where his mother met and married Henry John Schurman who became his loving father.

In 1983, Michael graduated from Quaker Valley High School in Leetsdale, PA and went on to Clarion University, Clarion, PA. Following four years of college, Michael enlisted in the United States Navy for seven years which included serving on the USS Abraham Lincoln Aircraft Carrier. Upon his discharge, Michael settled in the San Francisco Bay area where he further pursued his education. He was employed by Proxim at the time of his death.

July 3, 2000 was Michael's happiest day when he and his sweetheart, Sherry Gervais, became husband and wife. In addition to his new bride, Michael is survived by his son Zachary, Smethport, PA; his sister Andrea (Dana) Kasler; and sister-in-law Debbie Schurman, Sewickley, PA; brothers: Leonard (Sue) Archer, Bulger, PA, Daniel (Shauna) Archer, Salt Lake City, Curt (Nancy) Schurman and Darrell (Karen) Schurman, Sewickley, PA; stepmother, Susan Archer, Long Beach, CA; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and wonderful, caring friends. Preceded in death by father, Leonard Gene Archer and grandparents.
