FOOD AND JAZZ COMBO
Beat the summer heat with some cool jazz and great food at Sundance's Celebration of Food and Jazz, Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
During the peak of harvest season, Sundance unites with Sundance Farms and other suppliers to celebrate the height of fresh cuisine. An open market will feature fresh deli foods, tacos, hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs, fresh pastries, pies, cookies and baked goods.
The Gowain Mathews Quartet will kick off the festivities at 10, followed by John Flanders at 12:30 p.m. and Blues on First at 3 p.m. All concerts are free and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
The Web site beckons: Are you an intellectual . . . a connoisseur . . . a renaissance man . . . woman . . . lover of fine things . . . a foodie?
According to the site www.foodiemagazine.com, a foodie is defined as "an individual having a passion for the latest food fads."
If this sounds like you, then look to the latest entrée in the culinary world, Foodie magazine. Being served up in newsstands this summer, its self-proclaimed mission is to focus less on recipes and more on the faces and trends that shape haute cuisine.
