UINTA NATIONAL FOREST — Continuing extreme fire danger has prompted Regional Forester Jack Blackwell to upgrade fire restrictions in the Ashley, Dixie, Fishlake, Manti-LaSal, Uinta and Wasatch-Cache national forests until further notice.

The fire prohibitions restrict open fires to developed campgrounds and recreations areas, restricts smoking to inside vehicles or buildings and to developed recreation sites or areas sufficiently cleared of flammable materials with a minimum diameter of three feet. Chainsaws and other motorized equipment are forbidden and vehicles must remain on designated roadways or trails. Welding, the use of explosives and any other activities that generate flame or produce flammable materials are also prohibited.

Violation of the order could result in a fine of not more than $5,000 and/or imprisonment for not more than six months.
