BEAVER/MINERSVILLE-- Viva Ethel Mathews passed away August 4, 2000 at the Beaver Valley Hospital.
She was born January 30, 1908 in Pomeroy, Washington to Harry Forest and Viva Dena Lawson Ogden. She married Edward Lloyd Math-ews on January 11, 1926 in Beaver, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the St George LDS Temple. He preced-ed her in death. She married Edgar Henrie and he preceded her in death.
Ethel loved to play games and crochet. She loved to sing and sang in many Mothers Choirs. She enjoyed entertaining at the Long Term Care at the Beaver Hospital. In her earlier years she enjoyed raising a vegetable garden. She was active in the LDS Church and taught in Primary for many years. She had a great sense of humor and in her early years she helped many children in many different ways. She was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Adriene Jackie and Gerald Nowers of Beaver; Wal-lace LeGrand and Donna Mathews of West Jordan; Clifford Dayle and Margaret Math-ews of South Jordan; Leola Gillins of Monmouth, Oregon; and Thomas Forest and Bonnie Mathews of Salt Lake City; one daughter-in-law, Louise Mangum of Cannonville. She has 25 grandchildren, 108 great-grandchil-dren and 39 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Mathews and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2000 at 11 a.m. in the Minersville LDS 1st Ward chapel. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 9-10:30 a.m.
Interment will be in the Minersville Ceme-tery under the direction of Olpin Mortuary.
