Ruth Steck Beaudrow born November 20, 1904 in Manti, Utah to James Frederick Steck and Sylveretta Dixon Steck, died August 7, 2000 in Bountiful, Utah. She was the last surviving member of her family of ten brothers and sisters.
Married William John Beaudrow on July 15, 1929, later divorced. He preced-ed her in death October 1964.
Ruth excelled at handwork. She was a perfectionist at crocheting doilies, afghans and edges on pillowcases.
She often unpicked half her work to correct a missed stitch. She had what could be described as a hard life, with not many worldly comforts. However, she developed a spunk that enabled her to survive the rough times. She only completed school to the 8th grade in Manti and then quit to help take care of the younger children in the family. She worked in the bakery at Woolworth's on Main Street in SLC.
She was able to live by herself until she was 93 years old. For the past two and a half years she has resided at the Life Care Center in Bountiful where she still was able to do many things for herself. We express our appreciation for the kind and caring staff at Life Care.
She is survived by a daughter, Nadine (Frank) Simon of Bountiful; two sons, Harold of SLC; and Glade of California. Four of her many grandchildren took especially good care of her, Jeff Simon, Wendy Jones, Dave Simon and Alison Simon. She very much enjoyed visits from two of her great-grandchil-dren, Brandie and Joshua Dyson. Her other grandchildren and many great-grandchil-dren did not have the good fortune to know her well. She was preceded in death by a son Jack.
