Performers from the China Shanxi Folk Art Ensemble brave strong winds from an evening thunderstorm that hit during West Valley City's International Folk Festival at Centennial Park Tuesday. The festival featured performers from China, Bulgaria, Croatia, Israel, Martinique, Mexico, Slovakia, Turkey and other countries who also have been visiting year-round elementary schools in Davis County this week. They will be performing in Bountiful's four-day Summerfest International, which begins Wednesday night with a free street dance at 7 p.m. behind the Bountiful/Davis Art Center. About 235 performers from 10 countries paid their own way to come to Utah and are staying with more than 80 families in Davis County. The Summerfest is one of the largest folk dance festivals in the Intermountain West.
