Malone, Stockton voted among NBA's dirtiest players

ATLANTA — From a national perspective, it appears the Jazz's reputation is soiled.

According to a fan survey whose results were published Tuesday in the USA Today newspaper, Jazz star Karl Malone is the NBA's dirtiest player.

Malone garnered 31.9 percent of the vote, followed closely by Portland's Rasheed Wallace at 29.4 percent. Third place? That went to Jazz guard John Stockton, with 14.5 percent. Chicago's Charles Oakley (13.2 percent) was fourth, Milwaukee's Anthony Mason (6.3) fifth.

The Jazz's "dirty duo" combined for 46.4 percent of the vote — no clean sweep, but certainly something for the Atlanta Hawks to consider when the two teams meet Wednesday night.
