Our dear husband, father and grandfather, Francis Marion
Partridge, age 85, left peacefully Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, to attend a glorious reunion with loved ones in his Heavenly Father's home.
He was born on March 16, 1916 in Salt Lake City, son of George Arthur Partridge and Lucy Smith Lyman. The family lived in the Avenues. He was the eighth of nine children and his early memories include the 20th Ward, Lowell Elementary School, East High, and later the University of Utah. City Creek Canyon was his playground, and his transportation was on the streetcars housed at Trolley Square. He felt it was a privilege to be named after his maternal grandfather, Francis Marion Lyman, and to bear the name of his great-grandfather, Edward Partridge.
Upon obtaining a degree in Civil Engineering, Francis (now answering to Frank) accepted a government job as a topographical engineer mapping the West Coast. He later accepted the position as Head of the Gas Measurement Department of the Southern California Gas Company. In 1955 he accepted a similar position with
Pacific Northwest Pipeline, headquartered in Salt Lake City. In 1960 Frank worked in San Francisco with the Bechtel Corporation, constructing a pipeline to Canada. Desiring to return his family to Utah, he became a
Facilities Engineer for Hercules Incorporated until his retirement.
Always willing to serve, Frank filled many church positions throughout his life. Frank was a long time member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers organization. He worked many years with his wife on behalf of the retarded of Utah. The work he loved best was as a Temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple where he served for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife Jean; four children: Elizabeth Merrill (Bruce), Pleasanton, California; Paul Partridge (Cathy), Long Beach, California; Robert Partridge (Kathy), Mesa, Arizona; and Linda Partridge, Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Inez Langlois, Bakersfield, California.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at 12 noon at the Eagle Gate Stake Center, 135 North A Street, Salt Lake City. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will take place at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park - Northmont section.
