Jack Edward Lords, peacefully passed away on December 14th, 2001 surrounded by his blessed family and loved ones.
Born October 14, 1933 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Son of E. Warren and Leora Anderson Lords. Married to his dear wife, Beth Christianson, June 19th, 1959 in Idaho Falls. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in marketing. He was the president of the Val Hyric Social Unit and one of the Preferred Men on Campus. Jack was proud to be an Eagle scout with Two Gold Palms.
He served faithfully in the church as a member of the bishopric, in the High Priest group leadership, Young Men's president, and as a Sunday School teacher. Jack was especially committed to the church athletic programs, where he served as ward and stake athletic director. He was the Director of Division Two Athletics for a number of years and was also on the area committee. It was through these programs that Jack was able to quietly influence the lives of many as he was not only a coach on the field, but a coach for life. Jack will be remembered by many as a coach of the little league baseball teams and as President of the Highland High Ute Conference Football. He was always happy when he was on the sidelines cheering for his children and grandchildren as they played sports and ran marathons. His legacy will live on throughout generations to come.
Jack was a loving husband, a devout father, and a very active and supportive grandfather to his 11 grandchildren. He left his family in good care and in great harmony. Jack taught his children to love life by teaching them to do the things he loved most. He blessed his family with rituals like skiing as a family every Saturday, boating at Lake Powell for 34 years, and the annual summer vacations to Laguna Beach. When he entered the room he brought the sun with him.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Beth and their five children: Jeff (Heidi) of Salt Lake city; Nick (Keri) of Las Vegas, NV; Matt (Holli) of Salt Lake City; Leslie (Dave) Robbins of Salt Lake City; and Tony (Nina) of Salt Lake City, and his adoring grandchildren who called him "Grandpa Jack" or "Bampa."
