The Salt Lake Valley Waste Management Council has released the following tips and locations for Christmas tree recycling:
Don't place Christmas trees in the garbage.
Don't leave ornaments, tinsel or lights on the tree when you dispose of it.
Don't use white flocking or buy a flocked tree.
Don't recycle your tree in a large plastic bag.
Alta: West side of maroon recycling container from Dec. 26 to Jan. 18.
Copperton: Trans-Jordan Landfill, 10873 S. 7200 West, until Jan. 31. Flocked trees and plastic accepted but will be charged a fee. All trees must be tarped and secure.
Draper: North entrance (gravel lot) of Draper Park, 12450 S. 1300 East until Jan. 8.
Herriman: See Copperton.
Midvale: Midvale City Public Works, 8196 S. Main, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. until Jan. 15; curbside service Jan. 2-15.
Murray: Murray City Park main parking lot, 5100 S. State and Grant Park, 6200 S. Valley Drive, Dec. 26-Jan. 12.
Riverton: Riverton Centennial Park, 13100 S. 2700 West, and Riverton Rodeo, 12800 S. 1300 West, through the month of January.
Sandy: Parks and Cemetery Shop, 9120 S. 700 East; Storm Mountain Park, 11400 S. 1000 East; Flat Iron Mesa Park lower west parking areas, 8600 S. 1700 East; Highpoint Park, 7800 S. 1000 East; Crescent Park, 11000 S. 200 East; and Buttercup Park south parking lot, 10075 S. 1550 East, Dec. 26-Jan. 9.
Salt Lake County: Big Cottonwood Park, 4300 S., 1300 East; Bywater/Banbury Park, 7420 S. 3300 East; Pleasant Green Park, 3250 S. 8400 West; and Southridge Park, 5051 S. 4015 West; through Jan. 20.
Salt Lake City: Curbside service only through the month of January. No flocked trees or trees in plastic bags. Do not take trees to any Salt Lake City park.
Salt Lake Valley Solid Waste Management Facility: At 6030 W. California Avenue (1400 South) through Jan. 31. Flocked trees and plastic will be accepted but will be charged a fee. All trees must be tarped and secure.
South Jordan: Curbside service on Jan. 3 and 10 only, no later than 6 a.m. on these dates.
South Salt Lake: At 195 W. Oakland Avenue (2470 South) through Jan. 7; curbside service Dec. 26-Jan. 11.
Taylorsville: Valley Regional Park, 5100 S. 2700 West until Jan. 20.
Trans-Jordan Landfill: At 10873 S. 7200 West until Jan. 31. Flocked trees and plastic are accepted but will be charged a fee. All trees must be tarped and secure.
West Jordan: Community Pool, 8125 S. 2200 West; Soccer Complex, 7900 S. 4000 West; and Constitution Park, 7000 S. 3200 West from Dec. 26-Jan. 16.
West Valley City: Glenn Weaver Park, 3650 S. 1950 West; West Valley City Park, 3500 S. 4505 West; Woodledge Park, 4310 S. 5205 West; and Westview Park, 4100 S. 6055 West through Jan. 13. Trees only, no flocking, decorations, light cords, plastic bags or twine.
