Dominik Hasek is getting stubborn again, and that means trouble for Detroit's opponents.
Hasek made 23 saves in the Red Wings' 5-0 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night for his second straight shutout. He hasn't allowed a goal in 138 minutes, 40 seconds.
"I'm starting to feel like I'm in a groove," said Hasek, who last posted consecutive shutouts in 1996 with Buffalo. "I feel good and healthy, and my teammates are playing very well defensively.
Detroit's offense, which has struggled in recent weeks, was in gear Sunday.
Brendan Shanahan, Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille each had a goal and an assist, and Chris Chelios and Igor Larionov also scored for the Red Wings, who won their third straight game and snapped the Blackhawks' three-game winning streak.
"It's easy for me when we score four, five goals," said Hasek, who has allowed just one goal in his last three games.
Detroit had just 12 goals in nine games before Sunday.
"Sometimes you get in those streaks and it doesn't go in, doesn't go in, doesn't go in," Hull said. "We talked before and we're playing great defensively, but we just couldn't score in that streak."
The Red Wings extended their lead in the Central Division to nine points over the second-place Blackhawks. Chicago was shut out for the third time this season but for the first time since Oct. 9.
"There were a couple of times we could have changed the direction or pace of the game," said Chicago's Steve Sullivan, who was stopped on a short-handed breakaway early in the second period. "Hasek made some big saves early in the hockey game."
The Blackhawks announced after the game that right wing Steve Thomas broke his left ankle again. Chicago GM Mike Smith said Thomas will undergo surgery Monday and will be out until after the Olympic break in February.

The Ducks' franchise record was three goals in 1:42, set Feb. 26, 1994, at Quebec. It was the third-fastest three-goal series by an opponent in Winnipeg-Phoenix franchise history.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 24 saves for his second shutout this season and sixth career.
Paul Kariya also scored for the Ducks.
AVALANCHE 6, WILD 3: Patrick Roy stopped 18 shots for his 499th career win, and Brian Willsie scored two goals as Colorado moved into first place in the Northwest Division.

Alex Tanguay had a goal and an assist, and Scott Parker had three assists as the Avalanche moved a point ahead of idle Edmonton.
Jim Dowd, Andrew Brunette and Aaron Gavey scored for the visiting Wild, who were outshot 49-21.
