Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his home in Bountiful, Utah, of causes incident to age.

Oldest child of William Derby-shire and Ruth Andrews. Resided in England, Salt Lake City and Bountiful, Utah. Married in Salt Lake Temple, Nov. 27, 1939.

Survived by one daughter and one son, Laurel Bailey, Bountiful; Steven Leslie (Shauna), Cheyenne, Wy.; eight grandchildren and six great-grand-children. Preceded in death by wife, Laura Dimler Derbyshire; infant twin brothers, William and Raymond.

Active member of LDS Church. Served mission to Great Britain 1935-1937. Also served in Kentucky Louisville Mission 1981-1982 with his wife. Had a passion for learning. Graduate of Brigham Young University, MBA from University of Phoenix at age 75. Came to America from England as a teenager. Worked his way to high-level managerial positions in the U. S. Employment Service and in the U. S. Air Force, utilizing his talents in logistics, system development, management application and training. Retired after 21 years with Ogden Air Logistics Command. Later, an officer in real property development and financial management companies and many years as a management consultant. An accomplished speaker, writer and teacher. Articulate, well informed and witty. His personal journals fill 15,000 pages. Served two years as Davis County Republican Party Chairman and seven years as Chairman of Davis County Private Industry Council. Received Presidential and Governor's awards for volunteerism.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at the Bountiful 13th Ward Chapel, 1356 No. 650 E. Friends may call Sun. evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 No. Main, and Thurs. morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery.
