Dennis LeRoy Davis, 81, of Pleasant Grove passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2001 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born March 24, 1919 in Provo, UT to Dean L. Davis and Margaret Mary Muhlestein Davis. He married Bessie Verna Nielson on December 5, 1940 in Heber City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He grew up in Provo on his family's fruit farm. He attended Page School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. He spent most of his career as a car salesman and worked at Given Ford in Provo for over 35 years. After this retirement, he enjoyed many years running his loader in Rock Springs, Wyoming for Lewis & Lewis.
Denny was known for his fun-loving nature and devotion to his wife and family. He always said, "there are no strangers, only friends you haven't met." He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Bessie of Pleasant Grove; seven children: Gerrie (Arnie) Lewis, Rock Springs, WY; Dean (Della) Davis, Pleasant Grove; Cathie (Glenn) Roberts, Elk Grove, CA; Oscar (Sue) Davis, Gila, NM; Dennie (Craig) Knudsen, Reliance, WY; Rock (Loraine) Davis, St. George; Tami (Dennis) Ware, Orangeville, UT; 45 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Bonner Cody Davis, and his brother, Joseph Burdell Davis. Additional survivors include his siblings: Fay Carlson, NaDean Bellows, Delora Pugh, Neil Davis, and Eldon Davis.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Timpanogos First Ward Chapel, 500 N. 400 East, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Friday from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. He is dearly loved and will be missed by all.
