Obituary: Erma Jessie Stott Evans

- Erma Jessie Stott Evans, age 88, died peacefully on February 27, 2001 in Layton. In attendance were her doctor R. Robert Taylor and son and daughter-in-law Don and Gabriele Evans.

She was born September 23, 1912, in Meadow, Utah, a daughter of George Q. Stott and Thirza Timbers Ottley.

Erma attended schools in Millard County. She then came north to work in the Davis County area.

She was a member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including secretary of several organizations.

She was a visiting teacher and supervisor for over 60 years.

She had a great love for the gospel.

Erma met Horald John Evans while working in the Layton area. They were married civilly on December 23, 1932 in Farmington, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS temple in 1963.

Horald and Erma bore nine children: Leon (Renae) Evans, Don (Gabriele) Evans, Paul Evans, Margaret (John) Francis, Mark (Gaylene) Evans, Ellen Joyce (Alan) Norton, Leslie (Kevin) Fuit and a set of twins died at birth.

She also loved her 22 grandchildren (two deceased), and 39 great-grandchildren (one deceased).

Erma was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She received much satisfaction as she served her family and selflessly attended to their needs. She cherished every minute she spent with each of them.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband, baby twin son, and daughter.

She left her family an example to follow, memories to cherish, love enough to carry them through troubled times and a testimony to ensure that they will be together once again.
