3 cars stolen separately in W.V. in one morning

WEST VALLEY CITY — The recent rise in car thefts around the valley continued in West Valley on Thursday morning. Three cars were stolen in separate incidents.

While responding to one car theft, police found the vehicle after it had rolled. An animal-control officer spotted four juveniles running from the scene and called for backup.

Officers eventually tracked down two boys and two girls, ranging from ages 14 to 16, and took them into custody, said Lt. Randy Lloyd.

Lloyd says he and other officers don't know how many times police need to remind car owners not to leave their vehicles warming up in their driveways before they get the message.
