SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Several hundred high school youth from throughout the state converged at the Utah State Capitol Feb. 19 for a "Stand for Decency Rally."
The rally, which was sponsored by Homes Offering Moral Empowerment, American Mothers and the local James Brown radio talk show, originally was to involve students from high schools in northern Utah. However, on the day of the event, they came from as far away as Kanab in southern Utah.
"They were so awesome. I was thrilled," Amy Fielding, founder of HOME and a member of the Cove Ward, Richmond Utah Stake, later said. "I was standing by moms and we almost cried. I thought there would be a hundred, but bus loads were dropped off."
