Obituary: Henry W. Maes

Our loving father, brother and friend, Henry Wouter Maes, 64, passed away March 9, 2001 at his home.

He was born May 12, 1936 to Lawrence and Jane Maes in Utrecht, Netherlands. He later immigrated with his family at the age of 20. He mar-ried Marian Densley (Bargmann) in June of 1964 and later divorced.

In his youth he was involved in many sports. He enjoyed competitive hand-ball, soccer, ice skat-ing, and bowling. Dad was especially proud of bowling a perfect 300 game and enjoyed showing off his gold ring to commemorate this achievement. Henry also enjoyed being outdoors where his passion was fishing. He loved fishing trips to the High Uintahs. Henry also enjoyed and continued the family tradition of racing Pigeons. He was a member of the Wings Club for many years and won many awards and races. During his later years, Henry had a passion for crossword puzzles. The harder and more challenging they were, the more he enjoyed them. Henry also exhibited a great work ethic and dedication to his career. Henry worked for Steve Reagan and most recently, Thatcher Chemical for almost twenty years respectively.

Dad, your family and friends will always be grateful for your kind-heartedness, generosity and love that you gave us all. When we needed you, you were always there to help without any hesitation or anything in return. We love you Dad and will forever hold you close to our hearts.

Henry is survived by his son, Michael; daughter, Sandy Shantz; and sister, Laura Dodge. He is preceded in death by his son, Gary; and his parents, Lawrence and Jane Maes.
