Obituary: Gladys Ruth Margetts

Gladys Ruth Margetts passed away peacefully March 9, 2001. Beloved daughter, sister, and cousin, she spent her entire 79 years loving the Savior and serving her family and friends.

Gladys was born June 11, 1921, on the West Jordan farm which her grand-father Lorenzo Mar-getts homesteaded. Her parents, Willard John and Alice Rose Jones Margetts, taught her the princi-ples of the gospel from an early age, and she spent her life quietly sharing these same truths to others. She served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Young Women's Program as Secretary for several years, as well as in the Family History Name Extraction Program.

She will always be remembered for the love she showed to her sister, Alice. Gladys cared for Alice's needs for almost thirty years after Alice lost her eyesight. In honor of her progenitors, and in memory of her sister, Gladys recently had developed Margetts Estates, with Alice Susanna Lane as the primary street in the subdivision. Not only did this development provide homes for fifteen families, but it has become a blessing to the community as well.

The family would like to thank Brenton and Margaret Yorgason and family for the many things they did to bring happiness into her life. Special thanks to all of Gladys' friends, ward members and family who helped during her time of need. Thanks to Hospice and Dr. Anna Hom for their caring and thoughtfulness.

Gladys is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Ervin, Glen LeRoy, both of whom died in their infancy; and sister, Alice Susanna. She is survived by many cousins.

Services will be Tues. March 13, 2001, 11 a.m. in the West Jordan LDS 29th Ward Chapel, 6695 S. 2200 W. Friends may call at Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. at the church 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
