Utah company's EasyJack heads for Down Under

Phone Broadband Corp., the Utah-based creator of Power Line Communication devices, is shipping a new product for Australia that turns any powerpoint into a phone line. Called the EasyJack, it has met the requirements for telcom regulation in Australia and is now available throughout the country.

The patented technology transmits voice and data signals over standard 220-volt electrical wiring and can be plugged into any powerpoint in the house to create an instant phone jack. It transmits all phone, fax and modem signals to any location within a home or small office without adding new wires, eliminating phone hookup fees or the need to cut into walls.

It is designed to support modems, making access to the World Wide Web possible, and is robust enough to support data access over the Internet.

It's expected to sell in Australia for $229.
