Dolly, siblings claim mom is incompetent

Dolly Parton and her siblings are headed to court to settle a dispute over the competency of their 77-year-old mother.

The singer and nine brothers and sisters filed a lawsuit in November in Sevier County (Tenn.) seeking to have Avie Parton declared incompetent so one of them could be appointed to handle her estate. They claim she is showing signs of dementia.

But two siblings — twins Freida and Floyd Parton — have sided with their mother. Attorney Dennis Francis says Avie Parton is capable of taking care of her affairs.

At issue are cash and property worth about $1 million. A trial date hasn't been set, The Knoxville News-Sentinel reported.
