Volunteers sought to aid foster care

The Foster Care Citizen Review Board is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve within the community,

The board is a statewide effort to better the situation of children in the foster care system. Volunteers review foster care cases on an individual basis and make recommendations to the Fourth District Juvenile Court and the Division of Child and family Services. A two-day training session in Utah County will be held May 4 and 5. Applications are mailed to potential volunteers. Volunteers are asked to donate one day per month and must be at least 21 years old.

Other volunteer opportunities in Utah County include the following.

Volunteer with Concept Key. Concept Key, a program which provides care for school-age children during summer and after school needs volunteer mentors and tutors. Volunteers will also serve as teacher assistants, helping with activities held throughout the day.

Donate to the Scouting For Food Drive. Volunteers are invited to donate food to the Scouting for Food Drive Saturday, March 24. Look for bags to be delivered Saturday, March 17 at homes in the area. Bags should be filled with non-perishable food items.

Help prepare income tax returns. VITA, a volunteer program of the Internal Revenue Service, is looking for volunteers to help prepare basic income tax returns for low-income individuals. Volunteer will receive training which will continue through April 15.
