Obituary: James Bolander

James "Leo" Bolander, 87, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend died of congestive heart failure Thursday, March 15, 2001.

Born Jan. 4, 1914 in Blackfoot, Idaho to John Carl Wego Bolander and Mary Jane Chapman.

Leo was a patriarch for three families. He married June Delores Miller Nov. 2, 1936 (divorced), their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River Temple. June was deceased in 1958. They are survived by three children, Delores Runau (Jerry), Jim Bolander Jr. (Carol), Phyliss Lietz (Ron).

Leo married Leda Heaton, Oct. 22, 1949, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Leda was deceased in 1971. They are survived by three children, Dan Bolander (Beverly), Kevin Bolander (Jill), Marne' Lester (Tom).

Leo married Ila Wright Cushing, Aug. 11, 1973. He had four stepdaughters, Cheryl

Carter (Shay), Karen Van Camp, Mary Gilliand (Rod), Paula Green (Dave).

Leo had five sisters, and is survived by only one, Marie Taylor.

Leo's greatest joy was his 10 children, 19 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Leo was an auto mechanic by trade and always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved fishing, hunting, boating and especially family outings. In his younger years he was an avid race car enthusiast, building and racing stock cars.

Leo was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many church callings. He was a veil worker and baptistry worker at the Jordan River Temple. In Feb. 1984 July 1985, Leo and Ila enjoyed serving an LDS Mission as

directors at Winter Quarters Visitors Center in Omaha, Nebraska, in the Missouri Independence Mission.

How grateful the family is for the Hospice Team, and his loving and faithful wife Ila, who has been at his side for the past 28 years.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, 2001 at 1 p.m. in the Riverton 3rd Ward Chapel, 12888 So. 1700 West, Riverton. Friends may call Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street and Monday from 11:45 - 12:45 at the church. Interment, Memory Gardens Cemetery,

Las Vegas, Nevada.
