Gov. Mike Leavitt will issue a proclamation Monday declaring support for the Scouting for Food Drive, to be held Saturday, March 24.
Scouting for Food is a nationwide effort in which Boy Scouts of all ages collect food. Items collected in the Utah drive will go to the Utah Food Bank and the State Hunger Network.
Leavitt will issue the proclamation on the front steps of the Capitol at 11:30 a.m. Monday. A convoy of trucks to call attention to the event will travel to the Capitol from the Draper National Guard headquarters.
Other pre-food-drive events will include Salt Lake Mayor Nancy Workman issuing a similar proclamation on Tuesday, March 20, at 4 p.m. and Salt Lake Mayor Rocky Anderson collecting cans at City Hall on Friday, March 23, at 4:30 p.m.
