Salt Lake police have arrested a man after an officer was bitten during an attempted arrest early Tuesday.
Police say the 28-year-old man stole beer from a North Redwood 7-Eleven, 1285 N. Redwood Road late Monday night and returned a few hours later to use the pay phone.
When the man saw police arrive at the convenience store, he banged his head on the edge of the pay phone, causing a gash on his forehead, detective Dwayne Baird said.
The man continued to struggle with police and later medical crews. During the scuffle he bit a police officer once in the thumb, Baird said. The officer, however, was wearing a glove and was uninjured, according to Baird.
