Growing old in Hollywood isn't all bad, says Sally Field, who played the perky title role in TV's "Gidget" and won Oscars for "Norma Rae" and "Places in the Heart."

"I don't read scripts where it calls for me to be spunky," the 54-year-old actress told People magazine in the March 26 issue. "I hate that spunky thing."

Field plays a zany mom in the comedy "Say It Isn't So," also starring Heather Graham and Chris Klein, which opens in theaters Friday.
