On March 17, 2001, Lyle Gordon Poulsen of Provo, Utah, passed away in Chula Vista, California, of heart failure.

He was born in Orangeville, Utah, December 11, 1926, to Ina Fugate and Christian Eugene Poulsen. He attended schools in Orange-ville, Castle Dale and Ferron, Utah. He served in the U.S. Navy, stationed in the Philippine Islands, from 1944 to 1947. He married Betty Jane Seely February 8, 1947. They were sealed in the Manti Temple June 16, 1952. He worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his adult life, much of the time in his own business. He spent nine years in Juneau, Alaska.

Lyle was an active member of the LDS Church. With his wife he filled a mission to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1994-95. He participated in the wagon train across Iowa in 1996. He has worked in the Provo Temple for several years. Lyle was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife; sister, Gayle P. Winget; brother, Stanley Poulsen; sons, Chris and Brent, Scott and wife Carolyn, Mark and wife Lisa; daughter Nancy and husband Tom Fletcher; and 18 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ned.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 1745 South State, Provo. Friends and family may call Friday, March 23, at the Walker Family Mortuary, 85 East 300 South, Provo, from 6-8 p.m. or at the church one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Orangeville, Utah, with graveside services at 4 p.m. Services are under the direction of the Walker Family Mortuary of Provo.
