SOFTBALL: Playing its first home games of the year Wednesday at Utah Valley State College, the BYU softball team beat Utah State in both games of a doubleheader, 8-0 and 11-1, respectively. Both games were called after the top-of-the-fifth due to the eight-run rule.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: After a three-week period with no matches, the BYU women's tennis team will resume play with the first conference action of the season as they travel to New Mexico to take on New Mexico and Air Force. The last match the women played was against Washington on March 6. BYU is 6-6 on the season, having lost their last four in a row.
SWIMMING AND DIVING: All-Americans Arunas Savickas and Aaron Russell, who led BYU to a 33rd-place tie at last year's NCAA meet, will represent the men's swimming and diving team this week at the 2001 NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas. Savickas returns to the NCAAs for the fourth time, where he has been named an All-American the past three years.
Southern Utah
SOFTBALL: Southern Utah's women's tennis team will play the first of three Mid-Continent Conference dual clusters this weekend in Kansas City, Mo. The T-Birds will open play Friday with two dual matches against Valparaiso at 9:00 a.m. (CST), and Chicago State at 5:00 p.m. (CST). SUU will conclude play Saturday with a dual match against IUPUI at 2:30 p.m. (CST).
TRACK: Southern Utah University's men's and women's outdoor track and field teams travel to San Diego,, for the 23rd Annual SDSU Aztec Track and Field Classic Saturday. The T-Birds will compete against teams from Long Beach State, Michigan and Missouri.
