Ethel May Strode daughter of Mary Jensen and Richard M Willis passed away peacefully on the first day of spring, March 20, 2001. She had lived at Highland Cove in Salt Lake City for 12 years.
Born October 15, 1911 in Carson, New Mexico, before it was a state. Married Harvey J. Strode on October 15, 1930; divorced October 15, 1963.
Survived by a son, Richard Strode (Pam) and five grandchil-dren, Shane (Kim), Cameron (OK Mission), Amber, Tyler, and Troy and three great-grandchildren, John, Macie, and Marissa; seven brothers and sisters, Ellen, Ruth, Richard, Tilman, Floy, Dorothy, deceased; and one living brother,
Raymond (Barbara).
She was an independent soul in a hard world, putting food on the table, a kiss on my bumps and bruises, and hands on the weeds of a garden she loved to tend. She was a country girl in a big city trying to do the right thing when the rules kept changing. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2001 at 2 p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary Chapel, 10600 South 1700 East, where friend may call Friday evening March 23, 2001 from 7:30-9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
