The Marmalade District didn't exhibit its usual charm Wednesday night when police busted a methamphetamine lab and searched the area for the man they believe is the cook.
The ordeal began when Adult Probation and Parole approached a house near 570 N. Wall St. (100 West) during a routine check on a man on parole, Salt Lake police Sgt. Dave Thurgood said.
The man they were looking for allegedly ran from police with parts of a meth lab and guns, Thurgood said. Possession of firearms by a parolee is illegal.
Thurgood said there was at least one complete lab at the home and several weapons. The man was at large Wednesday night.

The man's girlfriend and her 4-year-old boy and 8-year-old girl were taken away from the house, Thurgood said.
