CORCORAN, Calif. (AP) — Sirhan Sirhan, the convicted killer of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy was denied parole Thursday for refusing to take responsibility for the 1968 assassination.

Sirhan, 57, refused to attend the perfunctory hearing in protest since there's no real chance of release, his lawyer said. He has been denied parole 14 times.

The three-member panel found Sirhan unsuitable for release because his crime was "especially cruel" and "calculated" and because he refuses to take responsibility for killing Kennedy.

Sirhan's lawyer, Lawrence Teeter, says his client was hypnotically programmed to kill Kennedy without being able to remember it afterward.
