The Retired Senior Volunteer Program is looking for retired psychiatrists, psychologists and counselors, ages 55 and over, to form a trauma team that will help individuals who have witnessed distressing events.

In addition to the trauma team, RSVP assists organizations that serve the chronically ill, developmentally disabled adults, care givers who need respite and adult literacy programs. Volunteers also visit nursing homes and senior citizen centers to uplift the spirits of the residents and participants. Individuals involved with RSVP mentor youth, tutor children and promote substance abuse prevention programs.

Advocate for Foster Children. The Foster Care Citizen Review Board is seeking dedicated volunteers to serve as advocates for children throughout the county. Volunteers review cases and work toward permanency for children in foster care. A two-day training session will be held May 4 and 5. Applications are mailed to the homes of volunteer upon request. Volunteers are asked to donate one day each month and must be at least 21 years old.

Volunteer in Crisis Nursery. The Family Support and Treatment Center is looking for committed individuals to volunteer in its crisis nursery. Volunteers will read, help and play with the children.

Support individuals with disabilities. Tri Connections, a nonprofit organizations that supports people with disabilities, is seeking tutors who are able to teach basic reading and computer skills.
