Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tues, March 20, 2001, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born on February 15, 1917, in Los Angeles, CA. to John Stanley and Della Ann Miller Peach. She married Edwin Black on June 8, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. He later died.
She was active in church and civic affairs. One of the first women to be elected to the California State Legislature. Had her own children's radio program and served on the Tournament of Roses parade committee before moving to Utah. Was very musically talented and imitated several instruments. Sang with the Sweet Adelines for ten years. Had been a member of the Wasatch Literary Club, the Women's Conservation Council of Utah, and the Elks Ladies. Loved attending the Heritage Center in Murray and made lovely ceramics over an eight year period. Entertained with several choral groups all over Utah and was president of the Vocal Arts Society. Loved by all and was known for her beautiful smile. Heaven does have another angel!
She is survived by daughters, Colette Black of Murray, and Cheryl Stroud of Salt Lake; sons, Paul Black of Carmel, CA, and Brent (Linda) Peach of Salt Lake; grandchildren, Jeremy Westerman, Jeff (Tiscia) Westerman, Mike Stroud, and Brandi (Brian) Donovan; and two great-grandchildren.
