Wit (10 p.m., HBO): Emma Thompson stars in this cable-movie adaptation of Margaret Edson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, turning in a stunning performance as a college professor dying of ovarian cancer. But, like so many plays translated onto film, this one lacks the power of the original.
