Two veteran assistant district attorneys are calling it quits after 58 years of combined service.
Chief deputy William Hyde and assistant chief deputy Kent Lewis both announced their retirements this month.
Hyde joined the Salt Lake County Attorney's Office in 1971 and worked under five county or district attorneys in his 30 years with the office. He spent the past 22 years as the chief deputy of the civil division. He also served as chief of the criminal division, recovery division and litigation division. In 1986 Hyde served as acting county attorney after Ted Cannon was indicted by a grand jury.
Lewis joined the civil division of the county attorney's office in 1973 after a brief stint as assistant attorney general. He served as public works unit chief and assistant division director and during his 28 years with the office became known for his expertise in zoning and planning matters.
