I have four words for the architects who voted on the best and worst buildings in Salt Lake City: Give me a break. Your big words and metaphorical descriptions give no credence to something that is no more than an opinion.
I'm not a trained architect. I'll admit that right now. But no one needs a degree in architecture to look at a building and decide whether they like it. If the American Stores Tower can end up on both the best and worst lists, it seems apparent that even architects can only judge our skyline by what looks good to them.
So instead of asking the local architects what they think, why not ask the residents of Salt Lake City? I'll bet the majority of them would like to introduce that hideous First Security Bank building to a giant stack of explosives.
